Mission

Learn Love Live

Atonement is a place of hope where all people from all walks of life can come together as a family with a desire to learn from God’s Word as found in the Holy Scriptures; a desire to love the Lord and one another as Jesus commands us to do in the gospels; and finally to a desire to live in such a way that we glorify God as being called the light of the world.

We are dedicated to spreading the love of God, serving our community, and helping individuals grow in their faith. With a strong emphasis on biblical teachings and a welcoming environment, we strive to create a place where everyone feels valued and supported.

The grass withers, the flowers fades, but the word of our God will stand forever (Is 40:8).

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work (2 Tim 3:16-17).  It is the eternal word that is taught and preached because we believe it is beneficial, salvific and ultimately transforming us into the image of Christ.

Our Sunday School has the learning of the Word of God at the forefront.  Our Sunday worship, through liturgy, raises our awareness and brings our minds to hear the depth of the bible through the scriptures, psalm readings,  and corporate prayers that are sourced in the bible.

Love

Jesus says, “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.  And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

As a broken people in a broken world we long for the kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called the children of God (1 Jn 3:1).  God’s love has been demonstrated to us in His Son Jesus Christ and we endeavor to show the love of Christ to all.  Our unique service allows for a brief time to call out to God for our loved ones in prayer.

Our fellowship provides opportunity to intentionally love on one another in word and deed.  Our ministries are designed to show the love of Jesus to our community.  Whether in service, fellowship or ministry we are striving to “love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 Jn 4:7).

Live

“In him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28).”

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Gal 2:19).

We are a people who by the power of God are being transformed into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.  We live not as though we are perfect but aim to live as though we are forgiven of our sins.

Our hope is to live as we pray in our service, “that we may show forth Your praise, not only with our lips but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to Your service, and by walking before You in holiness and righteousness, all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord. (BCP).
